March 2019 Meeting Minutes

Meeting called to order by the President Dave A at Kettles and Grain Home Brew Supply in Leesburg approximately 7:00 pm, Thursday 3/7.  Biggest announcement was the upcoming Wort Share Activity at Solace scheduled for the next day 3/8.  Following the wort share pickup Dave shall be brewing the ‘Splinter Beer’ experiment scheduled for tasting at the May meeting.

Presentation: by Jmark on his ‘Home Made Electrical Brew System’, some credit given to AHA website, but feel free to contact Jmark for any specifications to set up a safe indoor electric system for ~150 bucks, pretty cool. Thanks!

March Brewer’s Choice

Luis – Brett IPA, a fast ferment 5.7% abv, then a follow-up with a small batch Jasper yeasted Saison, a tasting experience

Kevin – Irish Red, MO, carapils, munich with WLP 004, should do it, happy St Patty day

Jmark – Irish Red with 2 row and cascade hopped, ready for a St Patty festival

Dave A – Heather Ale, bringing the spice to the table, a Sahti experiment with bread yeast, did I hear that right…?

Jukka – English Brown, solid brown ale, with Safale 004 English yeast

Matt (& Chip)- Rye Porter, MO, roasted barley, Rum soaked oak spirals, rummy

Paul – Christmas Gingerbread Ale, a sufficient grain bill of 14lbs+, honey, molasses, orange, ginger, a little clove of coarse, Merry Christmas

Brent – Rye IPA, with good gravity reading of 1.073 #0% rye bill and a great hop schedule with Columbus, Cascade, and Amarillo = success

Tom P – DIPA, a 7.7% 16lb grain bill hopped with a healthy home grown hop addition of Cascade, Chinook, Centennial, bitter and acceptable

Meeting adjourned to socializing at K & G.
